LEONBERG — A special meeting in the heart of Leonberg: the author Anna-Mariia Kostiuk has met Josefa von Hohenzollern-Emden, the town’s Deputy Mayor, in person. The conversation took place at the
LEO-Center Leonberg — and it did not stop at polite pleasantries.
A book that builds bridges
Anna-Mariia Kostiuk presented the Deputy Mayor with a copy of her children’s book
«Sonja und die Mondfee» — a gift for her little son Leopold. The book tells the story of a girl who finds tiny wings, turns teeny-tiny and flies all the way to the moon to find her vanished aunt Maja — a magician.
The two hit it off at once: Josefa, a young mother herself, warmly took little Alicia — Anna-Mariia’s daughter — in her arms, and the conversation soon became personal and concrete. First ideas for joint cultural projects have already been floated — the details are not ready to be announced yet, but things are heading in the right direction.
Who is Josefa von Hohenzollern-Emden?
Josefa von Hohenzollern-Emden has been Deputy Mayor of the Große Kreisstadt of Leonberg since 2021 — elected for a term that runs until 2029. She is a trained lawyer, a political scientist and a graduate in public administration (Diplom-Verwaltungswirtin FH), and she also sits on the Böblingen district council as a councillor. Alongside her political work, she is the mother of little Leopold.

Part of a growing connection
The meeting is one of a whole series of encounters between Anna-Mariia Kostiuk and the town of Leonberg. Earlier, the author had already
handed over two copies of «Sonja und die Mondfee» to the Stadtbücherei Leonberg, the town library, and had met Lord Mayor Tobias Degode.
At the same time, Anna-Mariia was working on her parallel-world novel
«LeoZeit: Schatten», a good 350 pages long, which turns the town itself into a literary setting. The bond between author and town keeps growing closer — and it looks very much as if this is only the beginning.
